Hidden gems

I love exploring Calgary and everytime that Dave and I do, we end up finding a place perfect for a date night, perfect for a friends gather (when possible) and a chance to see a glimpse of Calgary in a way you have never seen it before.

Recently Dave and I was able to stop by at one of my favorite cocktail lounges in Calgray, this was before the shut down of restaurants. (exact date- December Decemebr 1st) After we decided to take our nightly stroll around downtown. We decided to go onto 10th ave and venture to HIGH PARK. We heard about the opening of HIGH PARK in early fall and we have been meaning to check it out however due to certain circumstances we were not able to until that night.

It was 10 oclock at night and we were afraid that the access might be closed off but luckily enough we were able to get in. It is open to 11pm daily. We went throught the 10th ave parkade right across from the famous CRAFT restaurant and bar. We went up the elevator and we were finally able to see what HIGH PARK was all about.

I cant say that I was in awe of the space when I stepped out of the elevator but as we kept walking through the park, I really appreciated the space and the unique concept of having a gathering space on top of parkade. The area had park benches laid social distanced apart! Each bench had a backdrop with a postive catch phrase/ saying, this was a cute addition. The area was lit up in lights, the ground was painted in pastels and yo cant miss a pretty view of the Calgary tower. There were also areas laid with afro turf.

I could see myself coming back here again. It could be a great place for a friends gathering, a games night or even a cute picnic with a special someone? I wish I had a chance to experience this park during the warmer months however the cold shouldn’t stop you from checking it out. Though there is no gatherings permitted in YYC, this is cute spot to walk around with bae. Dress warm , pack your hot drinks in thermos and find some fresh air at HIGH PARK!
