Bubble tea cravings
Do you remenber the days that you would have to trek across the city to get a bubbe tea? You would ask your friend to join along to get go get one? and thier response was what is that?
Well not anymore, since bubble tea shops have been popping up in and around cowtown as if it was Starbucks. I love how accessible bubble teas are but as shops keep opening, its become difficult for me to choose which shop to get one from.
This is what Ive come up with to help me decide. These are some of my favorite places to go….but definitely not all!
1) COCO- there is 4 locations in Calgary and the fact that it is placed in every quandrant makes it quite accessible for everyone. The reason why I love this place is because Im a true taro lover….not the purple powder stuff but the actual taro root. This is the only bubble tea shop that I know of, that has fresh taro..yummy!! Fresh taro is a purple greyish root that CoCO calls one of thier options for a topping in a bubble tea. Instead of pearls aka bubbles you can add the pureed root instead. I love this stuff however it is aquired taste-so not for everyone!
2) BUBBLEMANIA- there is only one location and this is the O.G. place to get bubble tea in Calgary. You can never go wrong with Bubblemania and when they tell you its fresh ingredients…it is FRESH. They always have a specialty bubbletea on the menu which changes frequently so if you are unsure what you want, try something new and get the special! Im a milk tea kinda gal however on my special days, I’ll get a hot thai milk bubble tea which is absolutely delicious if you like rich and creamy.

3) MOON- this bubble tea shop is quite new to Calgary, however worth trying. The little shop is absolutely adorable with clean walls and modern concept in decor. The bubble teas are good but the soft serve milk bubble tea icecream is to die for. This option of soft serve is a great alternative for bubbletea lovers…sooooo yumm!!

4) ROYAL TEA- if you kinda know my personality then you must know how much I love packaging…hehe! At Royal Tea you can get your tasty drink in the cutest cups. Maybe your bubble tea in a bear cup or lightbulb? Curently there is two locations in Calgary but the beltline location on 10th ave is my favorite. It is spacious and bright which makes it a great place for a “get to know you date”.
PRESO TEA- This is my go to bubble tea place and the reason is the fact that its right on 17th ave SW. I live real close by so its always on my way home. The other reason is the fact that they are always consistent in taste. I order classic milk teas and sometimes it can taste a little off depending on the ratio of bubbles and the brand of tea that the bubble tea shops use, however the roasted oolong milk tea at Preso tea is something I will always get when I need a bubbletea fix. It is simple but so tasty!
