A day to give a little extra
There are people who love Valentines Day and there are people who absolutely hate it. For me, no surprise here…I really enjoy any celebratory day. Even when I was single, I really enjoyed Valentines day and not for the “ Hallmark” reasons to spend more on chocolate and teddy bears but for the meaning of day. For Dave, he feels that its a waste of money day…hehe!
Valentines days is now a commercialize day where consumers spend more on heart shaped candy, however its more then that. V-day is a day when I can love a little more and do all the cheesy things that I as a hopeless romantic can do without being cheesy??. I am the girl that will bake valentines just to give them out, will make valentines day cards with the kids and wear red specifically that day just to be on theme. Its a day where I feel that I can give a little more, show a little more love to all the realationships around me.
This past weekend was Valentines day and since YYC is still under restriction mode, I told Dave that a low key night in would be just fine…and we did just that. He got me a little gift which wasnt a surprise, since he probably feels obligated to do so.
*main course: chicken with mushroom sauce on rissoto (there is no sauce because we spilt it)
Valentines Sunday came and past but what really surprised me, was his extra surprise the day after. Day after Valentines Day, Dave surprised me with a virtual cooking class. I was absolutely suprised and so thrilled since I have never done a cooking class before. The cooking class was amazing, we had fun following along the chef and in the end we got a three course meal.
I was truly impressed by his efforts and though he intentionally planned the date to be NOT on Valentines day but the day after, I know it was for Valentines day ;)
Another date to remember, most definitely!
